Dubai International Airport (IATA: DXB, ICAO: OMDB) is the primary airport serving Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is the world's busiest airport by international passenger traffic. It is also the third-busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic, the sixth-busiest cargo airport in world, the busiest airport for Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 movements, and the busiest airport in the world operating with only two runways. In 2019, DXB handled 89 million passengers, 2.65 million tonnes of cargo and registered 409,493 aircraft movements.



The airport is a hub for Emirates, flydubai and is the base for low-cost carrier flydubai. It is also an important aviation hub for the Middle East and South Asia. More than 140 airlines operate from DXB, with non-stop flights to more than 270 destinations across all six inhabited continents.


The new Terminal 3 is the largest building in the world by floor space and was opened in 2008. Concourse 2, which opened in 2011 and is dedicated to flydubai, is the world's largest airport terminal dedicated to a single airline. The airport has a total capacity of 90 million passengers annually.


In 2018, DXB was ranked the sixth-best airport in the world by Skytrax. It was also named the world's busiest airport by International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2019.


The airport is operated by Dubai Airports and is the home base of Emirates, flydubai and low-cost carrier flydubai. Dubai International Airport is situated in the Al Garhoud district, 2.5 nautical miles (4.6 km; 2.9 mi) east of Dubai and spread over an area of 2,900 hectares (7,200 acres) of land.


The airport has three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and the much larger Terminal 3 which is divided into Concourses A, B, and C. Terminal 3 is the second largest building in the world by floor space. The airport also has a dedicated cargo terminal.


In 2019, DXB handled 89,004,602 passengers, a 2.2% increase over 2018. The airport also handled 2,651,831 tonnes of cargo, a 0.5% increase over 2018.
